Considering the demands on our time, starting from almost the moment we get up, to the end of the day, with work, kids, dinner, various practices and recitals, it can be very, very tempting to just pick out a sterling silver bracelet and wear it, come what may. At first, this might seem like a great idea, as bracelets can and do go with many different outfits and situations.
But, there are a few times when you might want to reconsider wearing your bracelet in favor of something more flashy. One such situation is if you’re heading out on a date and you really want to impress the person you’re with. A sterling silver bracelet may not be the best choice in this case. Instead, opt for something with a little more flash, such as gold. And if you’re heading to a formal dinner or into a situation where there will be lots of “bling” on show, then perhaps a diamond or two would be better suited.
By contrast, if you’re out with a bunch of people you just met, you might not want to show off your diamonds and such then you should then opt for something more understated, such as a sterling silver bracelet. In fact, as jewelry is a reflection of the wearer, if you want to give the impression of someone not trying to be fancy, then in this case the bracelet is the right choice to make.
Of course, your sterling silver bracelet should be worn a lot of the time as this helps keep it looking its best, but there is another time when you may want to forego wearing your bracelet, and that would be any form of extrem athletic activity. It should be common sense, but you’d be surprised at how many times I’ve seen people wear their jewelry only to have it damaged, lost or hurt someone else (in the case of martial arts class). In a case like this, you’ll want to leave it at home.
Now, this doesn’t mean that you should not or can not wear it if you’re doing something less exciting, such as biking or going for a walk, but if you wear it all the time, then it can be something that becomes a part of you and you may just forget to take it off. If that happens when you’re doing an extreme sport, then you might lose it or damage it.
A sterling silver bracelet is an excellent long-term investment that, when properly cared for, will last for many, many years. But you should always remember to think about what is going on in your day before automatically putting it on, because it only takes one slip to lose it.
