They are simply rings that symbolize love and commitment, but might not take on the shape or form as the traditional engagement ring, even though a traditional engagement ring certainly can be one. Sterling silver promise rings have gotten more and trendier recently for a very practical reason: price. Many people are thinking twice before spending three months salary on an engagement ring, so the silver one, which can be very inexpensive, has grown tremendously in popularity.
