The Round Brilliant Cut

This is by far the most vogue cut to ever be designed and also happens to be my favorite. It turns out that 80% of all jewelry created in the modern sense today will have some shape, way, or form a round brilliant cut stone or design to it. If you’ve ever had to go shopping for engagement rings or wedding rings then I’m sure you’ve thought about going with the round brilliant cut for your cz ring choice. Most celebrities, weddings, and women prefer the round brilliant cut over any other cut.

This is specially true for solitaire rings with single stones. The round brilliant cut says all the right things when you have no other accents to the piece of jewelry. The middle of the word “Brilliant” comes for the very reason, this stone is full of brilliance because the way its cut makes it produce as much light as possible which makes it shine very nicely. No other cut can match the kind of fire and brilliance this one puts out.

Now for some reason or other this cut represents luxury and purity. Don’t ask me why, it just does. One reason that comes to mind is because of its slim and wide stone style that comes off at both sides of the stone gives it a very unique shape and style. If I had to describe this stone I would probably say it’s a mixture of two triangles stacked on top of each other with pointed cubic zirconia ring sides.

A significant choice is made when you pick the type of cut for your ring, earring, or any other jewelry piece for that matter. Just like different hair styles suit different faces, different cuts suit different fingers (if you’re buying a ring, of course). It’s said that if you have a short finger you may want to go with something simple like the pear cut. If you have longer fingers, then the marquis cut will be perfect for you.

The Pear / Teardrop Cut

This blog posts may want to make you cry but try to help yourself and not cry because the title isn’t telling you to drop tears! That’s a jewelers chance at a little humor – which doesn’t happen very often in your local jewelry stores but does happen occasionally on the blog because well it’s the internet! Anyways, the cut I’m referring to is called the teardrop cut because it looks like a pear. You can actually call it either silver earring or as people refer to it as both depending on who you speak to.

This type of cut actually turns out to be a combination of a few cuts put together. You see, it has the fire of the brilliant cut stone and it has the wide shape of the maquis cut stone. You get both for the price of one, isn’t that awesome? We thought so… This cut isn’t so popular as the others, but if you want to make a statement by standing out above the noise go with the pear cut for your next jewelry piece.

The Emerald / Radiant Cut

Like many of the other types of cuts in stones they are called by various names, cz earrings. One reason for this is because there isn’t a standard book that has a list of all official jewelry names that a jeweler must use. It’s basically a free for all in which people call it what they want and if the phrase catches on then it’s the thing to call it. Kind of reminds me of high school!

Anyways, the emerald cut is also commonly known as the radiant cut. Now don’t get confused in between the color emerald and the cut emerald – big difference there. The emerald cut goes as far back as when George Washington was alive and the idea of jewelry making was just getting started. To bad it didn’t last very long, just like in high school it eventually lost it’s popularity. At this point like many things is when the alternate name of radiant cut came along and today it’s called both.

The Princess / Square Cut

Did you really think I was referring to a princess, like in the movies? Not so much to be honest, but the truth is by wearing the princess / square cut you will make yourself look like a princess even more! Why? It’s said that in ancient times when cz rings jewelry was being hand crafted (which doesn’t happen so much today) that only the princess of the city would be able to wear the square cut stones and everyone else had to pick other stones to where. And so the name caught on and today everyone calls it princess cut.

What’s cool about this cut is that it combines two different cuts into one. The first type of cut it combines is known as round brilliant cut, which I’ve already discussed. The other type is the step cuts, which I won’t be talking about. Either way, when you combine these two out comes the gorgeous and dazzling princess cut stone!
