Whenever you purchase a piece of jewelry it comes with a certain cut & shape to it. They don’t just give you a stone with a piece of metal and say good luck (boy would refund rates go up!). The stone is carefully crafted into a beautiful shape and then mounted onto the sterling silver ring precious metal which makes it a great turnout in the end.
Some of the most popular stone shapes & cuts are princess, round brilliant, emerald, teardrop, marquis, oval, heart, pear, baguette, radiant, and I could go on forever but those are the classical ones that everyone probably knows about. Some of the earlier ones that you may not know about are old mine, old table, European, and Old European. Those aren’t around so much today in modern day jewelry stores so you may not have seen or heard of them.
I’ve discussed my top five favorite stone shapes in the last five blog posts, be sure to check them out if you’re interested in learning a little bit more about where they come from, how they look, and which one is right for your next jewelry purchase!
